The main aim of the Sligo and Leitrim Beekeeping Association is to promote the Ancient craft of Beekeeping within the Sligo & Leitrim region.
The association aims to be used as an outlet for providing training and technical advice on beekeeping and also provides basic theoretical and practical teaching sessions during the winter months for our novice members.
A Brief History
The Sligo, Leitrim Beekeeping Association was formed when a group of like minded people attended a meeting at a local beekeeper’s house and agreed to form an association for the counties of Sligo and Leitrim (these were the only two counties in Ireland at the time that did not have a beekeeping association or club).
In July 07, officers were elected and an affiliation application was made to FIBKA.A Constitution, Aims and Objectives of the Association were developed and FIBKA voted to accept our application at their Annual meeting in late July.
